League of Women Voters–Salem

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The Salem League applies this approach locally, works with other league chapters for regional issues, and coordinates with the state and national leagues on larger topics.

The League welcomes all people, regardless of gender.

LWV–Salem currently has working groups devoted to voter services & civic engagement, affordable housing, reproductive equity & healthcare, education, and the environment & climate crisis. We put on public forums or programs on SATV every couple of months. We also have committees working on membership; diversity, equity, & inclusion; and fundraising. We have many opportunities for people to get involved, whether they have a little time to give or a lot, and whether they can get out to meetings or not.
