Conservation Commission:

Created under MGL Ch. 40, Sec. 8C, the Conservation Commission exists for the promotion and development of the natural resources of Salem and for the protection of watershed resources of Salem. It has seven members, appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council. A major part of its duties is reviewing applications submitted under the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and Salem’s Wetlands Ordinance.
