League of Women Voters–Salem

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The Salem League applies this approach locally, works with other league chapters for regional issues, and coordinates with the state and national leagues on larger topics.

The League welcomes all people, regardless of gender.

LWV–Salem currently has working groups devoted to voter services & civic engagement, affordable housing, women’s health, education, environment & climate, and transportation (new!). We put on roughly monthly public forums. We have a great book club. We have chairs or committees working on membership; diversity, equity, & inclusion; and fundraising. We have many opportunities for people to get involved, whether they have a little time to give or a lot, and whether they can get out to meetings or not.

Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.

We envision a democracy where every person has the desire, the right, the knowledge, and the confidence to participate.

We believe in the power of the people to create a more perfect democracy.

We are just getting started! Please join us.”
