Show your support for LWVMA's positions on gun safety legislation
On August 28, LWVMA will testify before the Joint Committee on Public Safety in support of S.1388/H.2045, An Act Relative to Crime Gun Data Reporting and Analysis. Both Sen. Lovely and Rep. Tucker serve on this committee.
If passed, this law will require a detailed analysis of MA crime gun trace data to better understand the origins of crime guns so that we can stop or ameliorate the problem of crime guns.
We will gather at the State House in Room 222 at 11:30 AM and then make our way down to Room A-2 for the hearing at 1:00 pm. Wear orange and your LWVMA pin! (We've got some if you need one.) We're not really sure when the hearing will end - 3:00 pm on this event is just a guess.
Can’t make the hearing? No problem. Thank Sen. Lovely for her sponsorship of the bill. Ask Sen. Lovely, Rep. Tucker, and joint committee Chair Naughton (Harold.Naughton@mahouse.gov) and Chair Moore (Michael.Moore@masenate.gov) to report the bill out of committee favorably.
