On 1 February, we launched a menstrual product drive to benefit the clients of HAWC. Throughout this month you can drop off new, unopened boxes of pads, tampons, and pantyliners at HausWitch (144 Washington Street) and we'll take care of the rest! We'll be adding additional drop off locations throughout the month, so watch this space for further opportunities!
According to a 2019 St. Louis University study, 2 in 3 women with low income were unable to pay for menstrual products at least once within the last year. These products are necessary for the comfort, dignity, and hygiene of menstruating people, but buying them can be burdensome.
In addition to this drive, our Reproductive Health Working Group has another project in the works regarding access to menstrual products. Look for more news and join us at the next meeting (to be announced)!
