The Healthcare Reform Working Group
We are pleased to announce that our Healthcare Reform Working Group re-launched last fall! We reviewed healthcare-related legislation endorsed by LWVMA and have been focusing our local efforts on “Medicare for All” in Massachusetts.
LWVMA is a member of the Mass-Care Coalition - the Campaign for Single Payer Health Care in Massachusetts. Last June, LWVMA testified in favor of “An Act establishing Medicare for all in Massachusetts” (H1405/S860). Good news: the Joint Committee on Health Care Finance was granted an extension to report H.1405 by Monday, June 15, so the bill is alive! Salem’s Rep. Cruz and Sen. Lovely are both supporters.
Last November, with the help of Mass-Care and the North Shore Democratic Socialists, we conducted a focus group style discussion at the SATV studio. We really hope you will take the time to watch! Thanks to DSA funding, we have a Spanish version available for viewing as well.
