This is the webpage of the Affordable Housing Working Group’s Subcommittee on the Salem Housing Authority and its not-for-profit affiliate Housing Opportunities of Salem, Inc.

SHA is a “local housing authority,” which means that it is a government entity. SHA is not a part of the government of the City of Salem, although Salem’s mayor appoints 4 of its 5 commissioners (directors). The fifth commissioner is appointed by the governor.

Moving forward, our Subcommittee on SHA/HOSI will write blogposts on SHA “breaking news” and post Observer Corps notes on the entirety of SHA board meetings. This webpage is a work in process — thank you in advance for your patience as we develop it!
