General Election: 4 November | Eleccion General: 4 Noviembre
Tim Flynn
Candidate Statement: Hello, my name is Tim Flynn and I’m running to be your next Ward 4 Councillor. I was born and raised in Salem and recently retired from the Salem Fire Department. I previously served two terms on the council and will bring experience, knowledge and common sense to city hall.
Top Priorities:
My number one priority is to represent the residents of Ward 4 and help resolve any issues they may have in our city. As a city councillor I have always believed that each and every resident of your ward is your boss.
I want to make sure the residents of Ward 4 are always informed about any proposed projects in their area and that their voices and concerns are heard. A Ward Councillor should always be informative to the residents they represent.
I would like to make sure that the Mansell Field Remediation and Restoration project is completed as soon as possible. The recent neighborhood meeting regarding this project last month was a great idea for the residents to be updated and ask questions. We had an amazing neighborhood meeting group during my first term as the Ward 4 City Councillor but had to stop meeting in person due to COVID during my 2nd term. I would like to have regular ward meetings again if I am elected.
Emmylou Manwill
Candidate Statement: I’m running for City Council to give Ward 4 a strong voice at City Hall. Salem must do more on affordability (especially for seniors), traffic and safety for all road and sidewalk users, and ensuring clear, consistent communication between government and the people we represent.
Top Priorities:
Infrastructure improvements and enforcement to make streets and sidewalks safer for drivers and pedestrians, especially school children getting on and off their buses and aging adults
Continuing to strengthen the standing of our public schools to prepare students for college or career in the trades, most pressingly by being an advocate for the construction of a new Salem High School
Maintaining consistent communication with Ward 4 residents, relaying timely updates and news from City Hall, and ensuring that resident feedback makes it into the discussions and policies of the Council
